What applied to the first documenta poster also is valid to this poster:
"Dominantes Element ist das kleine 'd', jenes Grundmodul, das in Zukunft als das formale Bindeglied zwischen den wechselnden Konzepten des documenta-Designs fungieren wird." (Harald Kimpel, in: Lukatis 2017, p.32)
In this context I'd like to draw attention to the design of the catalogues of the göppinger galerie by Bode, which show a similarity to earlier works by Hans Hartmann (for example advertisement for Gygi & Co in Bern 1947) or by Kurt Wirth (for example poster for Kunsthalle Bern 1947).
