An early example (in silkscreen !) of the discourse on figurative and abstract painting in Germany.
The catalogue of a later exhibition in 1960 "New Painting - Form Structure Meaning" pointed out how extraordinary this exhibition was:
"More than two years ago it seemed rather bold to host the exhibition ‘Neue Malerei - Form Struktur Bedeutung” in the Municipal Gallery" (Hans Konrad Röthel).
